Perfectionist Child

My daughter just finished first grade. It's been a rough year. She is so hard on herself when she doesn't live up to her own expectations. She played basketball earlier in the year and is now playing softball. She gets very frustrated when she doesn't do (what she believes to be) well. I've tried explaining that it's a learning process. I've tried to be understanding. I've tried taking privileges away when she throws tantrums at games. I don't know if I should not let her play sports or what to do. I just want to help her get through this, and I don't know how.
